Prasenjit Ray, USATT Certified Club Coach

Prasenjit Ray, also known as “Ray”, started playing table tennis in Calcutta, India, at the age of seven.  He played his first tournament at the age of eight, and for several years after that.  He developed a real passion for the game and played seven days a week until, sadly, he had to quit at the age of twelve.

He started playing again when he went to Engineering school where he became the school champion.  After he graduated from college in 1991, however, he had to drop his table tennis competitions in order to pursue his MBA and his Electrical Engineering career.

After coming to the United States in 1999, he decided to again pursue his love for the game.  He discovered the Cincinnati Table Tennis Club, but was very disappointed with his performance; thirteen years of not playing table tennis had taken a toll on his game.  Feeling disheartened, he was about to quit again when he met George Thompson, president of the Northern KY Table Tennis Club, who encouraged and coached him along.   With the guidance of George and Larry  Hawkins, Sr., Ray began to get his old enthusiasm back for the game and has become a regular at the NKTT. As Ray says, “Thanks to the NKTT Club members, especially George Thompson, and the need to exercise for health reasons, I have rekindled my love and passion for the game.”

Prasenjit Ray,who is married and has two children, is the Project engineer/MIS Manager of Odom Industries, Inc.

To quote Ray, “I would like to help George Thompson to train people who are interested in this lovely game.

Comments from George Thompson….

Ray is an aggressive player who is willing to meet anyone in a head-to-head competition.  He has great speed, and his willingness to work with weaker players shows the true player he really is and the great coach he will become.
